These mandatory conferences are and opportunity to for teachers and parents to communicate about their child’s progress. Times are setup by the teachers with a sign up closer to the conference date. More details for will be sent home with students.

Thursday October 27th 
We are looking forward to the annual Fall Festival and fundraising event Bounce for Bucks. The money raised will help cover school expenses throughout the year. More details to come home with students closer to event date.  
 
 
 
Covenant Learning Model (CML) Parent Meeting –
Thursday September 15th 
Join us for and evening of learning the Grace Academy school structure model, how our curriculum is run and our schools core beliefs. Meeting will be held in the multi purpose room. Look for more information in the coming Grace News emails.  
 
 
 
First Day of School – Tuesday August 23rd 
Kicking off the first day of the school year for all students! Elementary arrival time is 8:30 am-8:45 am and dismissal for students is at 3:15 pm. Preschool arrival time is 8:45 am – 9:00 am and pickup is at 3:15 pm. Preschoolers are required to be accompanied at drop-off and pickup.

Fundraiser February – Sandwich & Sub Sale

Our school is partnering again with Sue’s Food Market for a delicious sub and pretzel sandwich fundraiser. This was a very popular fundraiser last year! There are five different options for 12” subs and four options for pretzel sandwiches, each costing $5.
 
The DEADLINE to return the completed order forms along with the money is: Tuesday, February 9.
All sandwiches will be available for pickup at dismissal on Tuesday, February 18.
 
Our goal is to raise $5000! If each family sold at least 25 subs or sandwiches, we can reach this goal! Everyone needs to eat, so why not offer your friends, neighbors, or coworkers one of these delicious subs or pretzel sandwiches that also benefits a great ministry – our school.

ELEMENTARY (K-6) CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS & ART SHOW – Friday, Dec. 18

You are invited to join us for a special Christmas program and Art Show event! Our theme for this year’s Christmas program is “God’s Rescue Story.” To accommodate the number of people, and to allow for additional spacing, we will have 2 performances – 10:30am & 6:30pm. Doors will open 45 minutes before the show begins. Children need to arrive 30 minutes beforehand. Each family will be allotted 5 tickets per performance. If a family would like additional tickets for one of the shows, they may email the office. If and when additional tickets become available, they will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis upon those requests.

“BOUNCE FOR BUCKS” Fundraiser

This is our biggest fundraiser during the school year! There will be a bounce house as one of the stations at our Fall Festival where students will have the opportunity to “bounce” for the “bucks” their sponsors send in for them. All students will be participating in our Fall Festival event! Upper Elementary Field Trip: Indian Echo Caverns (Monday, March 16) – We will try to reschedule capitol tour and trip to Hershey Chocolate World

On Monday, March 16, our Upper Elementary students will have an exciting field trip to Indian Echo Caverns where they will explore the caverns as well as pan for gems. Children need to  bring a packed lunch along for this trip. This field trip takes the place of “guided instructions” for that day. We will meet all parents at the Park’n’ride off of the Emigsville Exit on I83 at 9am.  We plan to return to this location by 2:30pm.
 

 

Lower Elementary Field Trip: North Museum (Tuesday, March 17) – cancelled. (We hope to reschedule this event)

On Tuesday, March 17, our Lower Elementary students will have an exciting field trip to the North Museum of Science in Lancaster, PA. They will enjoy a tour of the museum along with a Planetarium show. Students should bring along a packed lunch.

Kindergarten Field Trip: Nixon Park (Tuesday, Feb. 18)

On Tuesday, Feb. 18, our Kindergarteners will have an exciting field trip to Nixon Park. They will enjoy an interactive story time learning about “Animals in Winter,” followed by a tour of the museum. They will also have lunch together at Nixon Park before returning to school for the afternoon. Mrs. Horvath sent additional information home for parents about this event.
 
 
 

 

 

 

Preschool Field Trip: Hands-On-House (Thursday, Feb. 27)

On Thursday, Feb. 27, our preschoolers will have an exciting field trip to the Hands-on-House in Lancaster, PA. The PK4 class is to arrive by 9:15 for their tour from 9:30am-11am. The PK3 class is to arrive by 10:15am for their tour from 10:30am-12pm. This is quite the “hands on” field trip. Your children are in for an exciting time of playing and learning!

Fire truckFIELD TRIP: Hellam Fire Station – Thursday, October 11

PK-3 class – arrive at 8:45am
PK-4 classes – arrive 10am
 
Meet at the Fire Station at your class’s designated time as listed above. Students will have a chance to meet and hear from real firemen, see them in their gear, and take a close look at a fire truck. Due to limited space at the fire station, please limit attendees to preschoolers, necessary siblings, and a parent or guardian.
 
Please park in the rear parking lot behind the fire station off of Cherry Avenue. If you are heading easton Market Street (towards the river) to the fire station, turn up N. Prospect Street, then turn right onto Cherry Avenue. If you are heading weston Market Street (away from the river) to the fire station, turn up N. Wilson Lane, then turn left onto Cherry Avenue. If this parking lot is full, there are two parking lots on the opposite side of Market Street down Friendship Avenue behind the church.
Don’t forget to have your child wear their preschool t-shirts!

FIELD TRIP: Flinchbaugh’s Orchard – Tuesday, September 24

Join us for a fun time celebrating fall as well take a tour of the farm at Flinchbaugh’s Orchard. Enjoy a hay ride, and pick some yummy apples and pumpkins to take home! Preschool parents (and Kindergarten parents who notified us that they are driving separately) are to meet us at the location at 9:15am on the grass next to the pavilion. Any other kindergarteners who arrive at school first will be transported to/from Flinchbaugh’s by either Mrs. Horvath or another approved volunteer driver. The tour begins at 9:30am and ends around 11am. Preschoolers will enjoy a lunch together afterwards under the pavilion at Flinchbaugh’s. Kindergarten students will return to school for lunch at the remainder of the school day.

 

 

GOLF FORE GRACE fundraiser – Friday, Oct. 11

On Friday, October 11, Grace Academy will host a golf tournament fundraising event at Heritage Hills Resort. Registration opens at 7:30am with complimentary range balls to get some early practice for the course. Golfing begins at 9am with a shotgun start. The 18-hole course consists various special prize and challenge holes. There will also be an awards banquet afterwards. If you know someone who loves to golf or may be interested in being an event sponsor, please share this information with them. This year we also started using CallMultiplier – a system that allows us to send out mass text messages or voicemail messages. You should receive a notification on your cell phones as well.

Easter Celebration – Thursday, March 29

If you would like to help us hide eggs for the Easter egg hunt, please arrive by 10:30am. Everyone else will then be welcome to arrive by 10:45am for the Easter parade followed by the Easter egg hunt.
 
 
 

Snow Make up Dates – March 20, 22, April 17, 19, 24, 26

On these dates, we will extend the preschool day to make up time missed for snow days earlier this year. Preschool will run from 9am-12:45pm both Tuesday and Thursday. Please send in a packed lunch for your children. They will eat lunch in their classrooms, followed by additional times of instruction with their teacher. This extension of time is optional, but if you plan to pick up your child at the normal time of 11:30am, please let us know in advance. Here are the other snow dates (All Tuesdays and Thursdays until 12:45pm): April 17, 19, 24, 26. (PK-4 parents, please do not pack anything with Peanut Butter in lunches for these days due to peanut allergies in this class. Thank you.)

Baltimore Zoo Field Trip: Tuesday, May 15 (Rain Date: May 17)

Come out for a fun day at the zoo! Everyone is to meet at the main gate by 9:45am. Be sure to bring hats, sunscreen, snacks, water bottles, and anything else you might need. If you have a zoo membership, you get in free!

 

BALTIMORE ZOO FIELD TRIP! – Rescheduled for Thursday, May 19 due to inclement weather

Cost: $11.25/adult, $9.50/student (All children under the age of 2 is free)
Payment & final count deadline: Thursday, May 12
Please meet at the Baltimore Zoo entrance at 9:45am so that the teachers can make a final count.

EASTER FLOWER FUNDRAISER!!SKH
 
Flowers are a wonderful reminder that Spring has arrived, and with it, the joy of new life! How appropriate for the celebration of Easter to correlate so perfectly with Springtime! Therefore, we are partnering with Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill to offer a beautiful assortment of easter flowers (bulbs included) including:
 
– Yellow Daffodils
– Tulips (assorted colors)
– Hyacinths (purple, pink, white)
 
For $8, you can get a 6″ pot with 3 stems of any of the above listed flowers. $3 of every pot sold goes to support our preschool. Our goal is to raise $1000, which equates to about 334 pots! There will be an open house for all enrolled children on
Monday, August 31 from 6-7:30pm
. Come out and meet the Grace Academy Preschool teachers and staff as well as other families enrolled in the school. You will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions as we prepare for a year of fun and learning. Refreshments will also be provided.
