ADMISSIONS INFORMATION

**Exciting News – We are growing!

For the 23-24 school year, we are relocating the preschool to St. John Lutheran Church (5 minutes away). This expansion allows us to offer two PK4 classes and two Kindergarten classes!

Before submitting an Online Application, please submit an Online Inquiry to ensure seats are still available and to be added to our Admissions database. Our Admissions Coordinator, Mrs. Burger, will then be in touch with you. For additional questions, feel free to call Mrs. Burger directly at 717-430-6087.

Admissions Policy

All students seeking admission to Grace Academy will be evaluated on the basis of their enrollment application, entrance assessment (if applicable), and family interview (CLM grades only) to ensure compatibility with our educational program. Enrollment for new families will begin after re-enrollment for current families. After enrollment opens for new families, applications will be primarily processed in the order in which they are received, along with the application fee. New families should have reviewed our school’s COVID Operational Plan and our Health and Safety Plan from our website prior to submitting an Online Inquiry.

All new students and families will be enrolled on a probationary period until the end of the First Quarter (mid-October) to ensure they can meet the behavioral and grade-level expectations. If at the conclusion of, or at any point during the probationary period, a student or family is unable to meet these expectations, the Director will meet with the parents to determine the appropriate course of action.

Preschool

Our preschool classes operate much like a regular classroom with age-appropriate instruction and play. We introduce several important foundational concepts of learning and character. Compatibility with our preschool program necessitates that preschool students are potty-trained. We realize that at these ages, accidents may happen on occasion. However, we are not equipped to handle the needs of non-potty-trained children on a regular basis. Enrollment in our preschool classes are open to all families.

Entrance Evaluations – Prospective preschool students who have summer birthdays (June-August) will be required to have an entrance evaluation to ensure readiness for our preschool program. The school also reserves the right to require entrance evaluations for any new preschool students if deemed necessary. Current students will not be required to have an entrance evaluation unless otherwise determined by the school.

K-12

Beginning in kindergarten, the classroom instruction transitions to focusing more on Christian discipleship. Therefore, we partner with Christian parents to ensure consistency of life and learning. Therefore, beginning in kindergarten, we require that at least one parent be a Christian and submit a completed Pastor’s Recommendation form. Families will be required to submit updated Pastor Recommendation forms each school year as part of the enrollment process.

Entrance EvaluationsK-12 – All prospective K-12 students will be required to have an entrance evaluation to determine their grade-level readiness. Current students will not be required to have an entrance evaluation unless otherwise determined by the school.

Covenant Learning Model (CLM) – Grades K and higher

Grace Academy’s elementary program is called the Covenant Learning Model (CLM) for grades K-8.  Parent and teachers covenant together to play active roles in the educational process to ensure consistency of life and learning at school, at home, and at church, in order to effectively create life-long disciples of Jesus Christ who possess the faith, wisdom, and character necessary to fulfill God’s will for their lives.

In this model, students attend school three days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) to receive direct instruction from the classroom teachers. On Fridays and Mondays, a parent or guardian oversees the guided instructions sent home from the classroom teacher. Families participating in CLM (grade 1-7) will be required to have a family interview to determine their compatibility with the Covenant Learning Model (CLM).
